Island Express started its business as Catalina Island’s first exclusive helicopter, transportation company.  Opening Island Express with 1 helicopter, a private Catalina Island Heliport and a small startup staff, it is a testimony to our founding company’s passion and dedication that has brought us to where we are today.

IEX Pre Flight FAQs

Can I book online?

Not at this time, to make a reservation please call Guest Relations at 310-510-2525.  You may also click on Request A Flight during business after hours or when phone volume is high, we will contact you to book your flight.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that travel plans may change, please call us 24hrs before your flight or 72 hours before a charter.  Cancellations after our policy time will be charged the full amount of your booked flight or charter.

How much luggage can I bring?

Our baggage allowance is 25lbs per person, we cannot guarantee baggage that is heavier than 25lbs.  We are subject to the same hazardous material requirements as airlines, NO aerosols, flammable or corrosive liquids.  No fire arms allowed except with prior approval.

Is there a weight limit?

We are required to complete weight and balance calculations for all aircraft.  Therefore, we do have weight and size limits which vary depending upon the aircraft we are using and how many passengers are on each flight.

Can I park my car overnight?

All heliport locations have overnight parking, prices and parking procedures will vary.  Please contact Guest Relation for heliport location parking policies.

What happens if I’m late or miss my flight?

Unfortunately, due to our cost associated with operating aircraft you will be charged in full if you are late and miss your flight.

Why do I need to be there 30 mins before check in?

All flights have a 30min. check-in prior to your flight.  The 30min. check-in allows us to perform all the necessary check-in procedures that are required from the FAA.  If you are late to your check-in time, you could miss your flight and will be charged for the full flight.

What happens if weather delays our flight?

We are not responsible for adverse elements beyond our control, i.e.: weather or mechanical breakdown. We do our best to depart when conditions have improved, keeping in mind safety first.  If in fact conditions beyond our control do not improve, we will cancel flights and refund your airfare without any penalties.
